Background and Legal Training
Born and raised in Calgary, Vince completed his university studies in the United Kingdom. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews and later earned his law degree from the University of Birmingham.
Before entering practice, he worked in the Provincial Court of Alberta, Civil Division as a court clerk during the summer months while completing his studies. After law school, he returned to Calgary, completed his Canadian accreditation process, and began working with Dunn & Associates as a summer student in 2013 before articling with the firm and joining as an associate after his call to the bar in 2015.
Administrative and Criminal Defence Practice
Vince’s practice has been built in criminal court. He appears in Provincial Court and has worked on trial-level matters involving impaired driving, dangerous driving, assault, and theft allegations. Since December of 2020, Vince’s primary focus has been challenging administrative immediate roadside sanctions for impaired driving, issued under the Traffic Safety Act. To date Vince has over 700 reported decisions from the ABSRA.
That practical experience matters. Defending allegations made under an Administrative Regime often turns on consistency, preparation, and responsiveness at the working level of a file. Vince’s role reflects that reality. He currently accepts calls 365 days/year given the rigorous and often unfair statutory deadlines imposed by the SafeRoads legislation.
